Stop experiencing digestive discomfort today

1. Microbial enzymes are active in pH range of 3-9 (greater than animal derived which have a very narrow range and are also destroyed in low pH)

Want to avoid colds and flus…here’s how

Got a sore throat and feel awful?  Keep catching every cold going around? Stuck with a cough you can’t budge? Want to avoid getting every bug this year?

If you have said yes to any of the above questions then your immune system needs some help. Here’s why you should be drinking alkaline water everyday!

Do you suffer low energy, excess weight, aches and pains, fatigue, poor digestion, frequent colds and flus? Are you currently battling with a dis-ease?

For most people this will be a resounding yes, most likely indicating a body that is too acidic. To reach and maintain optimum health our blood, fluids and delicate tissues throughout our body must remain alkaline. This however is in a constant state of flux as practically every metabolic process in your body from breathing, to digestion, to the production of energy, all create acidic by-products. It does not help when we ingest an overly acidic diet (lots of grains, sugar and animal products) this puts an extra load on the bodies delicate balance. All Things Coconut

Have you seen the hype about coconut on Facebook? Have your friends gone coconut crazy?

Everywhere you go on the internet today you will see coconut and its various products mentioned. For me growing up coconuts were the brown furry things you got Dad to saw in half and turn into horses hooves (made the best clip clop sound). How times have changed!

Now coconut products are everywhere and they are used internally and externally for good reason.

Five products you should add to your healthy diet from the coconut are:

  1. Coconut oil : coconut oil is an excellent oil to use for just about everything. From cooking to body lotion. The key to coconut oil is that it is a saturated fat (one we need) high in Medium chain triglycerides (MCT). MCT’s are broken down into smaller fatty acids (MCFA’s) in the stomach and directly absorbed unlike other oils that require further digestion, they then enter the liver where they are used primarily for energy. MCFA’s don’t typically circulate throughout the body like other fats, so are less likely to contribute to hardening of arteries and storing in fat cells. MCFA’s also aid the bodies absorption of fat soluble nutrients such as A,D,E and K. Some research has shown that taking coconut oil with a nutrient dense meal eg. vegetables, can increase vitamin and mineral uptake ten fold. Coconut oil is fine to use for cooking as it has a high smoke point (182oC). We also use coconut oil in our house as a body lotion especially after sun exposure.
  2. Coconut Sugar : great alternative to cane sugar with a GI of 35, can be used in normal recipes swapped directly for white sugar. Adds a caramel flavour.
  3. Coconut syrup : handmade from freshly harvested coconut blossom nectar. GI 39, has a lovely toffee caramel flavour and can be used as a replacement for maple syrup
  4. Coconut aminos : great alternative to soy sauce, very high in amino acids (building blocks for our bodies) and is gluten and soy free.
  5. Coconut flour : low carb, high fibre and gluten free flour that is made from the coconut meat and is taking the paleo world by storm. Can be used in baking to make pancakes, muffins etc.
